ABOUT Yunpeng Luo

Featured in “Top Docs ’08 – Portland Monthly”, Yunpeng Luo is widely recognized as an exceptionally knowledgeable and experienced senior acupuncturist and Chinese herbalist.

Dr. Luo
Formally educated and trained in Traditional Chinese Medicine and conventional medicine in China and the U.S., and with over 20 years of teaching, research, and clinical experience, Dr. Luo possesses extensive medical knowledge and clinical skills in treating patients with acupuncture and Chinese herbs.

After five years of study, research, and following master practitioners in the teaching hospitals, Dr. Luo received his B.Med in internal medicine from the Henan College of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) in 1983 in China. In the same year, he went on to further study Classics of Traditional Chinese Medicine (Huang Di Nei Jing – the Yellow Emperor’s Classic of Internal Medicine) and earned his M.Med in 1986 from Shaanxi College of Tratitional Chinese Medicien. He was an associate professor and Director of Teaching & Research Program at the Henan College of TCM, while also serving as a physician at its teaching hospital.

Dr. Luo has been lecturing and practicing Traditional Chinese Medicine in the U.S. since he moved here in 1996. He lectured at the New York College of Traditional Chinese Medicine (NYCTCM) and at the International Institute of Chinese Medicine (IICM) where he served as Clinic Director.

In 2003, Dr. Luo was invited to teach in the nation’s first Doctor of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine program at the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine (OCOM). In addition to his private practice, he continues to act as a member of OCOM’s Doctoral and Master programs’ faculty and clinical supervisor. Dr. Luo is also currently a faculty member at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU), where he treats patients at the Integrative Medicine Clinic. His areas of expertise include women’s health, pain management, immune/auto immune disorders, and gastro-intestinal disorders which he treats with acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine.
